Homeownership Education

First Time Homebuyer Seminars

The Homeownership Center helps people become knowledgeable and stable long-term homeowners by emphasizing financial literacy, mortgage readiness, anti-predatory lending education, and consumer protection. The program is tailored to each individual participant and offers comprehensive homeownership education through a series of steps, from orientation to education to resource connections.

Post Purchase Workshop

Post-Purchase education and counseling is a vital part of the homebuyer education process because it supports successful long-term homeownership. Many low-income and minority households often have limited access to conventional financial services they are more likely to access high-cost alternatives. These alternatives include pay-day lenders, check cashing outlets, rent-to-own stores, and too often predatory lenders.

Foreclosure Intervention Workshop

The Homeownership Center also offers intensive foreclosure intervention and mitigation services for homeowners who face the risk of foreclosure. Services include advocacy, credit counseling, loan modification negotiations, refinancing and short-sale, legal referrals, and financial analysis and planning.

Landlord Training Workshop

Whether you are a current landlord or considering to become one, this workshop will help you understand state fair housing laws and housing procedures, how to manage your property effectively, types of tenancy and the housing eviction process, Section 8 housing, and most importantly, how to minimize the business risk that is inherent with renting property.
